Geza Meszoly, a great master of landscape representation, created paintings veiled in delicate mist near Lake Balaton or the Tisza River. Discovered by Ligeti Antal, he studied at the Fine Art Academy of Vienna where his unique color perception surprised his masters. Meszoly's grayish-brown tones were reminiscent of the Barbizon masters, leading to some of his works being mistakenly attributed to Corot on the art market.
