Jerzy Panek studied at the Graphics Department of the State Institute of Fine Arts in Krakow, which was renamed Staatliche Kunstgewerbeschule Krakau during the war. After the war, he studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Kraków, and then at the Academy of Fine Arts under Eibisch and Pronaszko. He dealt with painting and graphics and from 1952 mainly with woodcut.
