His work is inspired by ancient civilizations, oral-history traditions, and his childhood memories of Syria and Armenia. He holds an MFA from the Yerevan Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre and is the sole visual artist member of Yo-Yo Ma's Silkroad Ensemble.
