Leon Chwistek was born in 1884. Leon Chwistek was a mathematician and artist, and one of the most important figures in the Polish avant-garde. He was born in a Krakow family, but spent his early youth in Zakopane, where the future artist's father ran a well-known health care facility in the villa Gerlach in Krupówki.
