Marek Sobczyk was born in 1955 in Poland. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the years 1975-1980 in the studio of Stefan Gierowski. In the early 1980s, he painted abstract, multi-colored compositions composed of repetitive elements or simplified, synthetic natural shapes. In 1983 Sobczyk joined Gruppa, participating in almost all of its speeches, and co-edited its journal "Oj well already", in which he published numerous theoretical texts.
