Following the German and Italian aggression, France decided to repatriate many Italian artists as "unwelcome". Back in Italy in 1941, Osvaldo Medici Del Vascello worked in Florence until his death. After a figurative period of the twentieth century in Paris, following different genres of painting, portraits, landscapes, battles and costume parties, Medici, from 1939 to 1945, turned to a rethinking of Cubism and then landed in Abstractionism in 1950. With La Notte he was present at the first major exhibition of Abstractionism in Prato in 1950.
