In the years 1815-1821 he studied Environmental Studies, Law, History and Languages at the Jagiellonian University and in Getynga. At the same time, since childhood, he studied drawing at workshops of M. Stachowicz, J. Brodowski and F. Lampi. He worked for the Polish Kingdom administration. Michalowski spent from 1832-1835 in Paris where he studied in N.-T. Charlet's workshop. He was an excellent painter of horses.
