He did not finish school as he trained as a mechanical locksmith. He remained faithful to his profession, as well as to the town of Písek and his wife Vlasta, whom he married in 1942. He did not finish school as he trained as a mechanical locksmith. He remained faithful to his profession, as well as to the town of Písek and his wife Vlasta, whom he married in 1942. He painted and drew after his high school studies with Professor Josef Velenovský. During World War II, he drew urban motifs, people in cafes and at railway stations.
