Wakita was born in Tokyo and has exhibited in the Venice Biennial, the Carnegie International Exhibition, and the Sao Paulo Biennale. He won the Japanese award for painting in the Guggenheim International Exhibition in 1955. The same year he received first prize in the Tokyo Mainichi International competition. When Wakita joined the army in 1943, unfortunately, his studio was destroyed by the air raid, and the works made before war time were almost entirely gone, forcing him to start his... He is known for his oil paintings, watercolors and lithographs.
