Hudson River School painter Jervis McEntee was a master at capturing the mood and atmosphere of late autumn in works such as "Autumn Landscape."

Early Spring scenery of the boulders at the base of Hussey's Hill with hay wagons in the distance. The brook running over the rocks among the trees makes for peaceful imagery. Framed in a period gilt frame in great condition with minor restoration.

Provenance: John Driscoll, Babcock Galleries, New York

To our eyes this is one of the finest McEntee paintings. A brilliant study of light play on the rocks, water, trees & sky. Note the figures standing on the stone bridge. Minor restoration, and framed in a Hudson River fluted cove frame with a tombstone liner.
