About Francis Beaugureau

  • Biography

    Born in Chicago, Francis Beaugureau became a painter of western scenes including Indian figures and genre. A folio of oil paintings of his in the Valley National Bank Collection of Phoenix are titled The Indian Wars in Arizona, 1846-1886.

    In Chicago, he took classes at the Frederic Mizen Academy and the Art Institute of Chicago. He spent most of World War II as a B-17 pilot in England documenting his experiences with realistic paintings of aircraft in combat. After the War, he worked as a commercial artist and portrait painter; he also became a consultant to the United States Air Force, creating art programs and a USAF museum. In the 1970s, he lived in Scottsdale, Arizona.
