Lorenzo Gignous was the nephew of the painter Eugene Gignous. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Brera, where in 1884 Mylius gets the prize for the historical landscape with a view of the town of Sesto Calende Lake Maggiore, the place of the landing of Garibaldi and the regiments of Hunters of the Alps in May 1859.
