Segundo Matilla was a Spanish painter born in Madrid who trained and developed his career in Barcelona. He studied at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts and was an outstanding representative of Spanish Impressionism. Matilla participated in numerous exhibitions and official competitions held in Barcelona and Paris, and received an honourable mention at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1897. Segundo Matilla was a Spanish painter born in Madrid who trained and developed his career in Barcelona. He studied at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts and was an outstanding representative of Spanish Impressionism. Matilla participated in numerous exhibitions and official competitions held in Barcelona and Paris, and received an honourable mention at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Madrid in 1897. He was a versatile painter who cultivated all genres, including landscape and marine painting, portraits, still lifes, and bullfighting themes. Matilla was also a teacher of outstanding painters of the following generation. His work is currently exhibited in various museums and international private collections.
