Reynolds Beal was an avid sailor, and the New England coastline, particularly Provincetown, Gloucester and Rockport, where he spent the last 20 years of his life, became his favorite subject matter.

Excellent condition with strong vibrant colors. Housed in a hand carved gilt wood frame.

Signed and dated 1948 lower right. Titled verso . Illustrated on page 207 of the catalogue raisonne by Sidney Bressler.

Depicts Fort Marion, aka Castillo San Marcos, St. Augustine, Florida. Recorded: Sidney Bressler, Reynolds Beal: Impressionist Landscapes and Seascapes, p. 87, mistakenly entered as Fort at Jacksonville instead of St. Augustine. 1911 was Beal's 1st trip to Florida.
