Waentig was born in 1881 as the son of an old-fed family of publishing in the Upper Lusatian town of Zittau in Saxony. After completing the Realgymnasium, he came to the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts at the age of only 16. Waentig was born in 1881 as the son of an old-fed family of publishing in the Upper Lusatian town of Zittau in Saxony.
