Trained with Vicente Castell, in 1906, Juan Bautista Porcar Ripolles traveled to Valencia thanks to a scholarship, and entered the San Carlos School of Fine Arts. Four years later he settled in Barcelona, where he studied at the La Lonja School. After finishing his studies, in 1915 he returned to Castellón, where he founded the Ribalta Group, focused on natural landscape painting.
